Happy Easter!

We took the low-key approach to Easter this year. The only celebrating we really did was the neighborhood egg hunt, which is always fun. Every year, weather is an issue for the egg hunt. Last year, it was windy and pouring down rain. This year, the day before the egg hunt we had a huge wind storm and terrential rain. The morning of the egg hunt, it snowed a bit but didn't stick. By the time it came to hunt eggs, the weather cleared up and there was no rain, wind, or snow but it was super cold. :> We dressed the boys in their snow pants (the first time they've had to wear them this year!), to keep them warm in case the snow came back and so they could slide even if it was a bit wet. The strategy worked great because they had a blast sliding, but I forgot gloves so their hands got cold. Oh well.

The boys had a blast at the egg hunt (pictures to follow soon). They were so excited about collecting eggs it was hard to keep them away from the field while waiting for the egg hunt to start. I tried to distract them by making them pose for pictures, but in the end we took them over to the food table and fed them Top Pot doughnuts - yum! When the egg hunt finally got underway, Owen knew exactly what to do and picked up a ton of eggs. Oliver, on the other hand, didn't quite understand that the eggs had treats inside them and kept putting the eggs back on the ground saying they were wet! After some convincing, I managed to get him to pick some up and put them in his bucket but by then the other kids had exhausted most of the rest of the field and were running back our way to collect the leftovers. In the end, I ran around a collected a bunch of eggs and plopped them down at Oliver's feet so he could pick them up while trying to protect our egg stock from the other kids, it was rather amusing. This is one of the top reasons I am so thankful for our neighborhood egg hunt, because there aren't that many kids (compared to the city one) and the parents are usually right there with them so everyone is fairly well behaved. :) Plus, since everyone brings eggs there are plenty of eggs for each kid to pick up so there's really no need to fight over them. It's also nice to be able to walk over and spend some time talking to neighbors that we haven't seen much since the weather got icky.

The rest of the day was spent at Kidz Bounce for a birthday party for one of Owen's classmates and then just hanging around home. It was a fun family day! As I mentioned earlier, stay tuned for pictures. :)
