First we took Owen and Rojo out for a special lunch (teriyaki). Rojo and Owen really enjoyed playing with chopsticks and lunch was super yummy! What you can't see is that Auntie Wee Wee was with us for lunch (she took this picture). It was extra special to get to share Rojo with Auntie Wee Wee, we miss her so much and wish she would visit more often!
Owen wanted to make sure Rojo enjoyed his stay at our house, so we found him warm pajamas and and Owen read him stories before tucking him in bed.
Owen made sure to tuck Rojo in and if you look close you can see Owen giving Rojo kisses. :)
See how snug Rojo was in his bed? We even gave him a bunny to cuddle with.
In the morning Owen thought Rojo would like honey for breakfast (like Winnie the Pooh).
After breakfast, Owen and Rojo helped Daddy put the pots and pans away in the cupboard. Owen LOVES to help empty the dishwasher!
The weather was unseasonably warm (like 70 degrees!!! I was wearing capris and a short sleeve shirt), so we piled Rojo and the boys in the "Fun Stroller" and we walked to town for ice cream. Owen loves blue ice cream (cotton candy flavor) with rainbow sprinkles. Oliver had peanut butter ice cream (I swear Oliver would live on peanut butter if I let him).
We just had to take Rojo to Costco and show him the KitchenAid mixers - for those who don't know, Owen is obsessed with mixers. It is not uncommon to visit someone's house and for Owen to ask to see their mixer right after saying hello. :) We even got to see the huge industrial size mixers at work in the bakery that day, the boys were in awe.
After the mixers, we HAD to go see the vacuum cleaners (another favorite). The boys have been fascinated with vacuum cleaners ever since Bumpa showed them how the brush goes round and round when the vacuum is turned on. Bumpa has tons of dust-buster-on-a-stick type vacuums at his house for the boys to play with, and they have a ball vacuuming Bumpa's house every time they visit. :)
On Saturday, we took Rojo to Owen's violin lesson. Rojo was a very good audience and really enjoyed watching Owen sing and play. After the lesson, we took Rojo to throw stones in the river from a nearby bridge. The boys also had a blast throwing dandelions in the water from one side of the bridge and then running to the other side to watch the flowers wash by.
I had been dying to take the boys to Uwajimaya (a japanese grocery store with a decent sized food court), so having Rojo was the perfect excuse. We had lunch at Uwajimaya, Owen picked chow mein, sweet and sour pork, and orange chicken for lunch. Then we went to look at the Geoducks (pronounced "gooey-ducks" for those who haven't seen these huge clams before).

Grandma Bonnie decided she wanted to pick one up to show Owen even closer, but they were super slippery so she wasn't able to hold them for long.
After Uwajimaya, we went to visit Daddy at work. Kevin is a hospital pharmacist. The boys were so excited to finally get a chance to see the place Daddy goes when he's not home.
We just could resist having the boys pose with Daddy in front of a digger outside.The rest of Owen's special week went well, though a flare up of asthma threatened to ruin it (weather changes, and unseasonably warm weather exacerbate it). Fortunately, another aspect of special person week was having special people go to school. Monday I got a chance to visit Owen in his class. I had an absolute blast seeing all the things Owen liked to play with in his classroom (the sand table, and the bead station where we made necklaces) and watching him play with his friends. I even got to dig holes in the school yard with Owen during the outside time (his school tries to get the kids out everyday rain or shine). On Tuesday, Kevin went to school with Owen and on wednesday Bumpa got a chance to visit with Owen at school. It was a great week!
