My mom found out about this cool event called Tugboat Storytime where you get to go on an actual tugboat and listen to stories and thought the boys would enjoy it so she signed us up. Naturally, we had to take Bumpa with us because he is always chock full of information regarding anything mechanical and the boys always have questions about how things work.

While waiting to board the tugboat we were wandering around the dock a bit when this float plane pulled out and took off right next to us. For those of you who don't know, Owen is totally into float planes so naturally he was in hog heaven! :) Oliver thought it was a bit noisy, but he still enjoyed watching the plane take off "way high in the sky."

This is the tugboat, the Arthur Foss.

Checking out the view from the deck before storytime started.

Bumpa encouraged the boys to really get in there and touch stuff.

This is the galley of the tugboat where storytime was held. The kids all sat at a long table and the adults tried to squeeze in all sorts of nooks and crannies - it was very cozy.
In fact, there were so many kids there they had to do storytime in two shifts.
The stories were great, all tugboat-centric, of course.

They look like they are listening so intently, but in fact almost every kid was swinging their legs and kicking the table. The noise of all those feet kicking was pretty loud, but it was kind of cute.

Sitting in the bench in the bridge of the boat (where the captain drives).

On the upper deck, checking out the ropes and pulleys.

Checking out the engine room. Bumpa made sure to point out all the parts to the boys, they were fascinated.

On the bow of the boat, with the Space Needle in the background.

After storytime, we decided to take the South Lake Union Trolley
(yes, it does have a rather unsavory nickname)

Owen really liked riding the trolley.

So did Oliver.
So we rode the trolley from South Lake Union, where the tugboat was, to Westlake and back. Then we took the boys out for Noah's bagels (one of their favorite things) and ended the day hanging out at Bumpa's house playing with the vacuums. It was an awesome day!
